Cory grew up a ‘water baby’; a competitive swimmer as a teenager, and a lifeguard/swimming instructor throughout university.  Cory spent the short Canadian summer water skiing and wake boarding in the beautiful and vitally freshwater lakes of British Columbia, Canada. Other interests and priorities took over until his wife Connie introduced him to wake surfing in 2012.  Cory remembers thinking “it makes no sense … how does the boat tow the rider without a rope?”  Their first boat was 2004 23’ Supreme which only produced a surf wake on the regular side, so Cory learned goofy heel side.  It took a whole summer for Cory to let go of the rope on that one-foot wave and in 2014 they got their first real surf boat and met Emily Agate at the local boat show.  Emily introduced them to Soulcraft, their first real surf boards, and taught them advanced riding techniques and tricks, unlocking their surfing experience to elevate to the next level.
